Taverners Toastmasters is based in beautiful Cape Town, on the southern tip of Africa. The Club was founded in 1976 and chartered in 1977 as the Chartered Secretaries Toastmasters Club. In 1996 the name was changed to Taverners (the city of Cape Town was once called 'Tavern of the Seas').
We have a long and proud heritage, and – we believe – a unique character. It's one of adherence to serious Toastmasters objectives and formalities (after all, we're here to learn and grow) and terrific fun and laughter. Humour (and boy, do we have some funny people among our members) is the cornerstone of our very firm foundation. We hope you'll visit us and test that statement!

We provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.
Through this mission, each Toastmaster gains a clear understanding of the club's purpose, and the organization as a whole benefits from a shared set of values and goals.
